OK, I'm going back on my word. I'm back on dA, but I'm going to be more active on SA. And unless things improve dramatically around here I'm going to continue being more active on SA.
I'm not going to go into a rant again about why I hate the way dA is at the minute, and how ridiculously it's being run (The site has paying beta testers. For gods' sakes, use them!), so I'll just keep it simple and say why I'm back.
SA is all well and good in most of the art department, except for Flash games. I uploaded some two days ago, and there's only been one new one by someone else since. And as such, they don't get much attention from browsers either, so they've been left a bit attentionless.
And funnily enough, I just got back into making Flash games.
That, and there's too many damn good artists here I don't really want to leave (not really a fan of the lurker thing =< )
Other than that, the site is everything dA used to be, before we had the "brilliant" v5 forced on us and more. I especially like their stance on copyrighted music (You can use it in Flash worry-free, unless your Flash is just the music and nothing else).
Seeing as I'll be using OverClocked remix music for my new game though, it should be alright on dA. If not, a deviation goes up with a link to the SA version
.
So, updates:I'm remaking Qwerty The Generic Platformer. From the ground up. Less glitches, more levels, more puzzles, more fun (hopefully). The engine's sorted pretty much, just level design to do now.
May upload a beta preview tomorrow. For now, here's the Sheezy version:
www.sheezyart.com/view/1054991…And that's pretty much it.
Also, can someone in the know tell me, is dA seriously only allowing Subscribers to give deviations preview images now? (I just read it somewhere, and am hoping like hell dA isn't
that stupid).
