Neil Braithwaite alive and deceivingNeil Braithwaite (randomcasualty) is still alive. He never died from cancer as was reported in this news article. In fact, he never had cancer.Neil Braithwaite alive and deceiving by spyed
When Neil had reportedly passed away, I can't quite explain how upset I was. I cried real tears, I felt real pain. I left work early that day and went for a walk. To this day my best friends remember me going through that day. And other friends of mine outside of deviantART recall the name Neil as the fellow whose passing caused a whole community great sadness.
As recently as today, and a day ago, and 3 days before that, 20 minutes before that, 1 day before that, etc. ... deviants have commented on the user page of randomcasualty with the following words:
rest in peace Neil.. we'll miss you a lot.. hope you'll be more happy & peaceful there..
rest in peace..im sure youre watching us and seeing all of this.

Weekly Community Development Update 06-21-06Greetings...Weekly Community Development Update 06-21-06 by lolly
As the Director of Community Development I am the person who represents your voice to the rest of the deviantART administration. I'm ultimately in charge of the Help Desk, the Copyright & Ettiquete Team and our Chat network. Every Wednesday I will be releasing a report; updating you on the internal progress of the team and the projects that interest you most.
We have not forgotten about the promised ability to allow users to clear spam off their pages/journals and artwork, I assure you of that. The system is currently being worked on again as it sort of caused some issues before. Like ohh stalling the entire site, and nobody wants that do they?
In addition to it being worked on, it is also undergoing some revisions. Rather than any actually deletion, which was a bit of a misnomer to begin with, users will have the ability to
dAv5 and deviantWEBCOMICSWith the somewhat jolting change to deviantART v5 many things have been lost and gained. No more devious desktops, for a start, but now we have those cool "mood icons" to decorate our posts with (as if avatars aren't enough!)dAv5 and deviantWEBCOMICS by GoldeenHerself
Less superfluous (that's a long word for "fancy") changes have also been made, which have the capability to shake certain users of deviantART to the core.
I am of course speaking of the revolution in deviation viewing. For those of you who are extremely new to this place, or else have exceptionally bad memories, let me fill you in.
Under the dA v4 system there were two ways of viewing a deviation: Preview, which would show you an image no larger than 300 pixels a side; and Full View, which would show the JPEG, PNG, GIF, etc that the use submitted at its actual size.
Now, these two different views were also two completely different URLs. Non members, and members with default settings, would always be met with Preview images whenever they were browsing galleries, et
The New Look: Good? Bad? Meh?Hopefully some of this will reach webmaster ears...The New Look: Good? Bad? Meh? by Groxx
I logged on today to see a new look. Granted, I haven't been around very much (and not actively for a long time), but this piqued my interest enough to post about.
Honestly, I think it's pretty crummy overall. If not downright bad.
Yeah, it looks more modern, and I like the extra features. But there's FAR more wasted space on each page, and many portions haven't been updated at all. To make it worse, many sections have seemingly different stylistic approaches, giving the whole website a disjointed feel that reminds me of my high school's web design class. I'm scrolling a lot, clicking a lot, and still irritated by the things that annoyed me a year ago.
To top it all off, I'm getting a disturbing "MySpace" vibe every time I look at the page...
